Polish 6h4 bayonet with phosphate finish. This one have two time removed numbers on scabbard and matching numbers. Also it have stamp on the blade.

Also this bayonet have interesting blade finish. Look part of the blade that is used for wire cutting. Here is photo of this bayonet and other usual one.

Second one is also Polish 6h4 bayonet with phosphate finish, but without numbers.

Arsenal reworks?

The one with the numbers is definitely an arsenal rework. Its blade has been re-ground to be functional both on the normal cutting edge and the wire cutting edge. I have seen large nicks in both these edges on some well used Polish bayonets that came through a Dallas gun show a year or two back.

I have seen several of the brand new Phosphated/Parkerized Polish bayonets come through (unfortunately I never kept one) and was told by a person that deals with Radom a lot that these were assembled after the fall of Communism to sell on the open market. I have also seen WZ88 Tantals and some late Polish AKM's with this same finish.

Here's my Polish AKM 6H4 Type II bayonet with the Type I scabbard with a grey phosphate finish. It is my understanding that the ones with these grey phosphate scabbards were made up for export or contract sales and not for Polish military issue/usage. M.

Note on the pictures above that the leather hanger does not have the embossed edged lines usually found on the Polish hangers. Also note the wrist strap loop is sewn in a straight line and not the usual hour glass "X" pattern and no edge lines. All cost reduction efforts for export sales!? M.

Attached are pictures of the 6H4's in my collection, including the one with a grey phosphate scabbard, which has been renumbered, the new serial number matching the bayonet.

It is also the 6H4 in my collection, which has had the most use looking at it.
