Type 81 bayonet
I have been waiting for over a month to receive the special T81 from the United States.

Re: Type 81 bayonet
I found one by accident here in South Africa. Seller didn't know what it was.
Can't say I was desperate to add one to the collection, they aren't really a military issue item. But I do like having it, it ticks off another box.
Congrats on yours. What is collecting bayonets like in China? Can't be easy.

Re: Type 81 bayonet
Hello Brian, it is very difficult to collect bayonets in China, these are controlled knives, although some of the t81 is exported abroad, but in China is equipped with the military, these bayonets are only a small amount out, so it is very rareBrian wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2024 2:45 pm I found one by accident here in South Africa. Re: Type 81 bayonet
When an importer first brought in these real original Chinese military Type 81 bayonets and scabbards no one would buy them. No one had seen them before or knew what they were. After dragging them around to collectors shows he gave up. Either he or someone that bought them came up the plan to convert them to fit a US M1 carbine. At least they were usable. They still didn’t sell very well.
I bought one of the original ones because it was, “different”. Glad I did as it was cheaper than the replicas that came in later. It took me longer to find a converted one which was more expensive. Mike
