Nice pair of Egyptian AKM 6X4 Type II bayonets in the correct Type I scabbards. From what I can see the fabric wrist straps appear to be different, but correct. Interesting weave?
Maybe my eyes are deceiving me, but the rubber scabbard insulator on the left appears longer!? I would be interesting to see the other sides of the bayonets and scabbards. Maybe showing where the insulator stops on the front of the scabbards are located? Mike

Hello, Mr. B, there are some small differences in the size of the two sheaths, the texture of the two braided strips is the same, and the shape of the blade of the knife is somewhat different

A couple quick notes, nice pictures. The wrist straps look correct and original! Is it just me or the lighting? The bayonet grip on the left in the last 2 pictures seems to have a more blue tint. The Egyptians used blue (indigo) dye to color the grip material. The mix is not always the same and some appear to be more blue, others appear more black.
I am still interested in the difference in length of the insulators. Almost all the insulators from the ComBloc countries are the same size and shape. The vary only in colors, details and molded markings. The scabbards all should all have welded stops on the front to locate the insulators. Insulators are about 82.5 mm , (3 1/4”) long. The distance from the top of the scabbard to the stop is the same length.
Just curious, is it just the usual quality issues or big differences? Mike

This is one of the different scabbard rubber insulatorsI am aware of. Poland made a few that were 10 mm longer than standard. The scabbards were without stops. Never regular production.
A few of the very 1st Russian Type I scabbards also had a different shape and length insulator and scabbards without stops. They were soon replaced /reworked. Below are pictures of the longer Polish and Russian insulators. Mike

Hi Corgi, Are they both new or just the brown one? The brown ones are my favorites. I have owned dozens of the blue / black ones with different variations, but only one with a brown grip. I personally selected mine from a pile in Kuwait because it was different. It was the only brown one and had matching Arabic numbers. Yours is also unusual as it has matching English numbers. First one like that I have ever seen. I am not sure what the numbers and styles mean. Most Egyptians are unmarked. A few are found with the Arabic numbers and a few others with the English ones. There has been some discussion if the differences are perhaps due to contract / export sales to other countries.

Hello Mike, I was lucky to get the brown Egyptian bayonet. I think the brown one is better than the blue and black one
