Bulgarian AK47 Grenade Launcher Bayonet

This experimental Bulgarian AK47 Grenade Launcher Bayonet uses a standard AK47 hilt with a cast crossguard assembly designed to direct the rifle's muzzle blast downward into a 35mm launching tube. The muzzle blast ignites a propellant canister attached to a grenade. The grenade shown is an accurate reproduction based on photos of the actual grenade.

I think these were strictly experimental/prototypes. I've seen a second one but it is slightly different. This one has a cast assembly while the other one appears to be steel.

A really unique collectable! Thanks for sharing, I have never seen or heard of one of these. Just curious, is the muzzle restricted requiring a blank cartridge or can a normal round be used? Very fascinating engineering and mounting. Not sure I'd want to launch one of those grenades. Heavy projectile and lots of vent holes, lots of flash, bang and recoil!? Wonder what they had in mind for sights? Mike

No muzzle restriction. My understanding is a standard round or a blank could be used.
