Your substitute hanger appears to be an early Russian AKM snap hook hanger. The snap hook, rivets and stud appear to be Russian style. The flattened "D" ring tells me it is early and the light tan leather color is usually associated with the ones issued originally from Tula. It may be an original issue or one made up later for rework/replacement.
