Polish Commemoratives
I know many of you don't hold commemoratives in very high regard, but I won't hold it against you. I like them.

Re: Polish Commemoratives
Bill,
I like these, but fit them in with Franklin Collectible plates. I rate them well above the etched crap coming out of Croatia right now.
However, I always felt the Poles did these for the instant collectors market and way over priced them. Just my opinion. Would I buy them if I could find them cheap enough, yes.

Re: Polish Commemoratives
Maybe we should make a topic only about those bayonets made for the collectors market? Possibles include the Indonesians, Some Chinese, Vietnamese, etc.
I am still not sure about that new Polish black handle one...will feel better when I see some issued with Beryls. But I think there are a lot of people worldwide with access to eBay and a knowledge of what people will pay for stuff. Remember (was it Marcin?) who put together the Polish trainers? I am sure there are lots of others. Seeing a lot of Hungarian "fancy" ones on eBay right now too.
As for these, I like them Bill. Certainly part of an advanced collection. I focus on the issued ones mainly though. But these are great to have as Martin said.

Re: Polish Commemoratives
I agree with MDI and Brian. I try to focus and limit my collection and display to only military issue Kalashnikov bayonets and related items. (they must be able to fit on a rifle and be functional as designed). Needed to focus! This is after 40 years of collecting general bayonets of the world and any interesting militaria and reference materials.
I appreciate the commemoratives and you have some really nice ones. I might be tempted to pick them up as representable samples if things were slow and they were cheap. By the way Bill, the three Polish books I posted on your "Polish 6H4 non-wire cutter"topic all have information and pictures on these special issue bayonets and I know several other members that actively collect them. I would try to stick with the real documented factory/arsenal made ones like yours and try to avoid the cheap "add on marking" rip offs. Mike

Re: Polish Commemoratives
Here is a different version of a Polish AKM 6X4 Type II with a Type I scabbard for Commemorative or Presentation display. This post was originally by Marco in the "General Discussion - AK Bayonet Discussion". Mike

Re: Polish Commemoratives
I got an option to acquire one of these 80th anniversary bayonet like Sig.
Are someone able to confirm if these are found only without numbers or if they also appear WITH numbers. The one I got an option on has numbers and is shown on the pics below. I just want to make sure it aint a fake.
What you guys think?

Re: Polish Commemoratives
That is a good question. Would they take an issued bayonet and then use it as a commemorative?
My gut feel says no. Anyone with a laser engraver nowadays can do that. I would be cautious personally.
