Does anyone speak or read Russian?

Postby Brian » Sat Apr 28, 2018 10:29 am

I think this forum thread may have some good info for us. But even Google translate can only get the bare gist of all the info.
Anyone want to have a go at summarizing?
If we download the pics, may be able to compile into a decent article. There are some good pics of early stuff.

Hi Juris. I just posted an article on an East German 6X3 with a modified hilt. I posted a copy from an article from a Russian book. It would be interesting to know what the text has to say. Could you post a "Quick Reply" with a translation? Thanks, Mike

Hello, comrades!

At first, sorry about my English :)

So text is about technical characterization:

Total length:326mm
Blade length:150mm
Blade width:30mm
Ring's internal diameter:17.5mm

Blade: Steel blade, straight, one side sharpened. The battle end has two sharpened sides, with a concave blade. On the blade has a notch like a "teeth", allowing the blade to be used as a saw. The front of the blade has a rectangular cuts, which allows to attach the bayo to the scabbard and use it as pliers

Handle: The handle consists of two lids in black colour, fastened with screws. Handle with T-type end with internal spring

Cross: steel, with a ring from the blade side

Scabbard: steel, the upper part of the scabbard is covered with a rubber insulator, designed for the protection of the arm to snap the cables under electric voltage. Hanger made from the canvas

Excellent! Thank you! At least we now know that the Russian author thought it was modified to mount on an AK-74. Mike
