Need Yugo Locking Catch

Post by Brian »

Picked up a very nice Tabuk, but missing the locking catch. All parts..the button, lock and spring.
I figured I'd find a wrecked Type II bayo and use the catch.
Got a Russian 6x4 and managed to remove the catch, but there are internal differences it seems. Everything fits, but when screwed down, it bottoms out and the button cannot be pressed. Seems the Tabuk is milled deeper. So next step is to look for a very poor Yugo bayo that I can strip. I think the Tabuk was based on the Yugo ones, and I'm hoping that catch works.
Anyone have a poor Yugo bayo (no sheath needed) that I can strip? There are some online for about $30, but ordering from a gun company overseas may be problematic.
Anyways, just reaching out to see if anyone can assist?

How about the catch assembly from the Yugo I took apart for the 3D interior pictures? Maybe just a catch part or the entire pommel assembly? Guess I keep it just for display, always have the pictures. could always make another one. Mike viewtopic.php?f=26&t=98

Mike,
Just need the button, spring and backing lock part. Pommel is fine.
I didn't know the Russian and Tabuk ones would be dimensionally different. Diameter and fit is fine, it's the depth. I'm hoping Yugo is the same as Tabuk.

Glad to hear the Yugo and Tabuk mounting catch are the same. Happy to help out and be able to rescue a Tabuk. They are getting more difficult to find and will probably never be made again. Mike

Huge thanks to Mike for helping with this. Great to get the bayo complete.
This one has a serialled handle, and unserialled scabbard. I see this more with Tabuks than any other bayos. I wonder if they considered one serial on the set sufficient in some arsenals.
