Polish AK47 Bayonet 1957 Variations

The first Polish manufactured AK47 (56-H-212), bayonets were dated 1957 and serial numbered with a "P" prefix and 3 numbers. The P was thought to indicate Prototype or Proof and only 100 were made, (highest number I have seen is P 089). Next came actual 1957 production serial numbered with an "A" prefix and 5 numbers. The A was to indicate Army or Arsenal contract and only about a 1000 were made, (highest number I've confirmed is A 01007). Instead of using the Russian designed scabbards. Poland decided to adapt the scabbard they were already making for their Wz. 55 fighting knives. They also adapted the same basic leather hanger to use with the bayonets. The scabbards have a blued finish and are unmarked with no serial numbers. It would be interesting to see how many of these 1,100+ bayonets are accounted for. Aha .... Perkun24 ...... a Polish specialist! Excellent collection of Polish AK47 bayonets and scabbards! The "P" and "Z" prefix bayonets are obvious. Also the one numbered 11166 appears to be a black painted 1970 version. I am not sure about the ones numbered A00224, A00273. Are these both the 1957 version or low numbered 1958 versions? I would assume the A12467 is a 1958 version.

Bayonets from my collection

The one with the number 11166 should be for export to Bulgaria.
There are no markings or other references to the manufacturer to be found anywhere, absolutely anonymous.
Only the spring plates in the scabbard have Polish markings.
Please show photos of the bayonet.

Hello, I have been collecting Polish bayonets for many years but post war are not my strong side. Both A serial bayos are 1958 and painted 11166 is marked 1970

The AK bayonets may not be your strong side, but still a great representation! Overall a very impressive collection and a beautiful display! An amazing display of Polish made and used bayonets and scabbards.

By the way, Mill_speer could have been correct about bayonet number 11166. It could have been an unmarked export version. I made a guess based on the black paint. Interesting to see the Polish proof marks on the scabbard tension springs.

I am not sure if it is III66 or 99III. Close examination shows that they are a " I " not " 1 ". Depends on how you look at it and how it was intended when stamped. Hubert's above is definitely 11166! Mike

Numbers are actually stamped from left to right. Also from right to left in the 1970s? !
That this type of number is on a bayonet from 1970, I'm a little at a loss.
There is also Pol. AK47 without Numbers.

Nummern werden eigentlich von links nach rechts gestempelt. Bei den von 1970 auch von rechts nach links ? !
Das diese Art der Nummer auf einen Bajonett von 1970 ist, da bin ich etwas ratlos.

Yes, most of them are marked Wz98/05, Wz98, even Wz88, also Lebels are marked Wz86/93, Wz07/15, Bg. fs. wz. 86-93 or bg,wz. 86-93

WZ. 88 Austria Mannlicher bayonet, I've never had that in my hand with Polish markings.
Does the M.88 have a German or Austro-Hungarian manufacturer and
did you inherit the collection?
Actually, we are here AK Bayonet Forum, I don't want to go into that, but it's still exciting to see something else.
When I think about it, you still have a lot to do with the Polish AK bayonets, there are still a lot of variants.
