Re: Red/orange Serbian 6X4s?

Sounds interesting. What would make it Serbian or Yugo? How would it be different from an Iraqi Tabuk AKM 6X4 Type II?

Re: Polish AK47 Bayonet Production & Serial Numbers?

It has been over 2 months since this post was started. First, I need to make a correction. The 1957 "A" production had an A and only 4 numbers, not 5. Below are serial numbers that have been recorded. So far I have 4 1957 "P" series: P068, P069, P081, P089. 8 1957 "A" s...

Re: What type of 6X5 is this?

You can read about them here: https://russianarmyshop.eu/training-knives/1458-souvenir-bayonet-ak-6x5.html I believe this statement sums it up, " Manufacturing from components of military decommissioned weapons.". My best guess is that there is something in their construction that makes th...

Re: Need help on ID

Here are samples of the Polish cross guard and scabbard cutter plate proof marks. Sometimes hard to see under the paint, but typically on almost all of them. Also samples of the Polish numbering. All the 6H3 and a few early 6H4 had 5 digits. Most 6H4 had only 4 digits. The numbers are usually small,...

Re: Russian AK47 bayonet with Bulgarian number stamp?

Not a bad bayonet to have if you are interested in marking variations like I am. I display one in my collection, except mine is in an early 2 band scabbard. The numbers are meaningless for dating, (early vs late). I believe the Bulgarians used the same numbering system as the Russians. When made the...

Re: Need help on ID

I believe that this is a Polish AKM 6H4 bayonet and scabbard. Mainly because of the blade without saw teeth. Occasionally an Egyptian or Iraqi bayonet is found without saw teeth, but they were probably made/assembled using Polish blade blanks. This blade has been reworked and resharpened. This bayon...

Re: Russian AK47 bayonet with Bulgarian number stamp?

I would consider this one as a Bulgarian AK47 bayonet and scabbard. Russia designed and made the first AK47 bayonets and scabbards. Later they did issue a license to Bulgaria to manufacture them. Some of the early Bulgarian ones may have been made in Russia or supplied as parts provided to Bulgaria....

Re: Tula 6x3 with Izhevsk scabbard

The bayonet and scabbard you pictured have been completely reworked / refurbished. It appears the grip panels, insulator, hanger and strap have all been replaces with new parts. The bayonet and scabbard have been repainted. Original numbers have been removed and/or painted over. New forced matching ...

Re: Tula 6x3 with Izhevsk scabbard

I believe that NIC056 is looking for is a trading partner. Someone with a miss-matched Izhevsk bayonet in a Tula scabbard? Or at least someone with an extra Tula scabbard for sale or trade. The hand etched rework numbers can be removed or painted over and new matching numbers hand etched if desired,...

Unfortunately I can't help. After sorting out all my Russian AKM 6X3 bayonets and scabbards I still have two that are mixed arsenals. Just like yours, Tula bayonets in Izhevsk scabbards with matching rework numbers. Mike

Romanian Military Bayonet ???

Did anyone notice this item that sold on eBay 2-27-2012? "Vtg Romanian Military Bayonet w/Scabbard & Belt Loop Wire Cutter Bakelite SF7077 ( 303893781355 )". It must be something special as it sold for $167.72 including shipping? To me the bayonet is a Hungarian AKM 6X3. The scabbard i...

I noticed a price tag in the bag my KM87 came in. It was labeled as a AK-84. The price was $150. I offered and bought 2 for $200. He had quite a few more, but I only had $200. Mike

Here are additional pictures of my German Bayonet collection. Original accessories, parts and labelled bags plus a sub-collection of rubber insulators with mold number variations. Back in the 1990's I bought up lots of DDR items, gun parts & furniture, ammo and magazines, uniforms, field gear, h...

German AK Bayonet Collection

Below are pictures of just my German collection. They are mostly East German, (DDR), with a few exceptions in the bottom row. Almost all the bayonets and scabbard have matching numbers or are un-numbered. A couple are intentionally miss-matched to display different variations and save space. They al...

Re: Polish 6h3 "Type I" Handles

Yes, many minor variations probably not worth trying to collect. The information and knowledge is interesting, that along with pictures is usually enough. Always something new to learn. Don't forget how my research into the Czech VZ58 bayonets and scabbards simplified collecting them. If you read ab...

Re: Polish AK47 Bayonet Production & Serial Numbers?

This is an up date on the Polish AK47 bayonet serial numbers. I have received 14 more 1958 "A" numbers. All spread out, but no new high or low numbers. We seem to have many 1957 "P" and "A" numbers for no more that were made. However I still only have three 1958 "Z...
