Re: AK47 6x2 Bayonet

Yes, a very nice example of the Russian 6X2 bayonet and scabbard made at the Izhevsk arsenal. It is one used to fill the first or early contract with Finland. The later contract was similar, but with some minor variations, i.e., proof marks etc.. The most obvious difference is the scabbard hanger at...

Re: AK Bayonets!

Carlos is correct. Once you read the descriptions and study the pictures basic Identification is easy. Then you begin to notice the minor variations which are more subtle. Mr. B.

Yugoslavian AKM 6X4 Type II B&S unusual numbers?

I recently noticed this Yugoslavian AKM 6X4 Type II bayonet and scabbard listed on eBay. Unusual as they have only 2 numbers. Normally they have 5 to 6 numbers. Also, the numbers are upside down and not in the usual position. Normally they are read with the B&S held point up. Anyone have any ide...

Re: AK Bayonets!

They both appear to be Bulgarian AK47 6X2 bayonets and scabbards. Both appear to be in excellent, like new condition. Both are typical mid-range production. The bayonets have different style grip panels, (different sub-contractors?). The scabbards have different finishes and different style / materi...

Re: Unusual East German ?? AK Bayonet

Point taken and I agree. Either poorly designed or never intended for wearing / carrying any bayonet. From the first time I saw them, I tried to figure them out without success. Dealers / Buyers of the rifles with bayonets often literally threw them in the trash. As a collector I now consider them a...

Re: AK47 Bayonet

Very nice find and great pictures. Russian made Finnish AK47 second contract bayonet and scabbard. However, I would still like to see the right side of the pommel. It should be unmarked!? Mike

Re: Unusual East German ?? AK Bayonet

I agree with Alexander and Brian. The bayonet and scabbard are a commercial Chinese AKM version. The rubber scabbard insulator is East German for use on a AKM 6X3 Type I scabbard. They do not belong together. No hanger was ever designed or made for these bayonets. Only a small metal belt clip was in...

Re: AK47 Bayonet

Hi Stefan, I believe you got lucky! It appears to be a Finnish AK47 bayonet and scabbard made by the Izhevsk Arsenal in Russia to fill the 2nd or last contract. Complete and in excellent, like new condition. Congratulations! You need to confirm a few things not shown in the pictures to make the iden...

Re: Bayonet Romania

This AKM 6X3 Type I bayonet and scabbard are a bit of a mystery to me. From all appearances they seem to be typical standard Romanian production. Complete with a correct wrist strap and late style fabric and leather hanger. They also have matching numbers which is desirable to most collectors. Howev...

Re: Romania number two...

Very nice Romanian AKM 6X3 Type I bayonet and scabbard. Complete with matching numbers and correct Romanian hanger and wrist strap. The Romanian AKM bayonets and scabbards were numbers matched with the rifles during production. Since the rifles also had the year of production marked with the serial ...

Re: Scabbard hanger brackets

Hi Marco, The hanger brackets used on the metal AKM Type I scabbards have followed the designs and methods originated by Russia. Only the very early Russian ones used the flat bar style hanger bracket and they were later reworked to be able to use hangers with a snap hook. This was done by cutting a...

Re: A white MAADI

It does appear to be an Egyptian AKM 6X4 Type II bayonet in the usual Type I scabbard. Not sure why or where it was painted off-white. Could be desert or snow camouflage, they were used many places. You did bring up an interesting point about the scabbard hanger bracket. I had not paid much attentio...

Re: Kalashnikov Bayonet

Hi Stefan, I think I understand your question. It is a possibility that the "R" code Yugos may have been a contract for Slovenia. However most of Slovenian hangers I have seen were shown with the standard Yugo bayonets. These hangers seem to be somewhat rare. Many came in without bayonets ...

Re: Kalashnikov Bayonet

Hi Stefan, This is a Yugoslavian AKM 6X4 Type II bayonet and scabbard. It appears to be in very good used condition with matching numbers and original hanger. This one has the "R" code that is more unusual than the common numbers without the letter. There has been a lot of discussion about...

Re: Romy Type 1 with a mortise stamp?

This is a common Romanian AKM 6X3 Type I bayonet and scabbard. The bayonet has been repaired / reworked. The original grip panels have been replaced with ones made for replacement. They are made of a different material and coloring than the original ones. A more smooth plastic type material and redd...
