Re: AK47 Poland
Sorry, there are times that my brain and fingers do not operate at the same speed. Sometimes not on the same page or even in the same time zone. I'll post pictures of the markings on a 1759 Polish AK47 bayonet for you to enjoy. Mike

Re: AK47 Poland
Hi Gerhard, I know you enjoy all the small proof and inspection marks. Are you looking for anything in particular. I have quite a few Polish AK47 bayonets from 1975 through 1970's. I would be glad to post pictures if you like. Mike

Re: North Korea
Hi Gerhard, I didn't know you were interested in N.K. markings. Here are my 2 examples. First 2 picture are of one with green hanger the next 2 are one with tan hanger. Not much there!? Mike

Re: AK47 Poland
Yes, this is a Polish AK47 6X2 bayonet and scabbard. Nice condition with what appears to be the correct hanger. It is the most common 1958 series with the "A" code. Mr. B.
PS: Have fun if you ever try to install the hanger on the scabbard!? Mike

Re: North Korea
This is a typical North Korean AKM M-68 bayonet and scabbard. Nice condition with green(?), fabric hanger. Supposedly the green hanger indicates export production. A tan hanger is thought to be for internal NK use. These bayonets have been supplied to many third world countries. Mr. B.

Re: AK47 East Germany
This appears to be an early version of an East German, DDR, AK47 6X2 bayonet and scabbard. At least the scabbard is an early one with the original small rivet retaining the tensioners. The way the fabric hanger is retained indicates the hanger has been replaced at some point. Not a rework, as it sti...

Re: Russian AKM 6X3 Type I -II Transitional Bayonets and Scabbards
Very nice for a BFPU example. It appears to be a transitional version of a Russian Izhevsk AKM 6X3 Type I in a Type II scabbard. It is very unusual to find a very used one that has no numbers, either original or re-work. The hanger and strap are not original or correct but have been replaced at some...

Re: Russian Tula Made Type 2
This bayonet and scabbard are indeed a Russian AKM 6X4 Type II made by the Tula arsenal. The bayonet is fairly early production as the arsenal mark is on the front of the crossguard. The bayonet and scabbard do have matching numbers, but they are miss-matched and the numbers are hand etched and forc...

Re: Any places to find bayonets for reasonable prices? 2022
In person I would suggest Gun and Military collectors shows. Next gun and antique stores. Auctions containing guns and related items. Online I would suggest collectors' sites like this Forum or FB groups. Best for me is eBay. I check it regularly and have found many items there. See what is availabl...

Re: New Member Introductions
Hi MichaelS, Welcome to the Forum. I'll answer your question about sharpening an AK bayonet. DON"T! It only tends to weaken them and ruin their value as a collectable! If you want a hunting or camping knife buy one. Even a cheap one is better than a bayonet. They are designed for stabbing, chop...

Re: Egyptian AKM 6X4 Type II Bayonet W/O Sawteeth
Excellent information Gerhard! I agree that these bayonets and scabbards could easily have been made by Egypt for a contract to Libya. I would, however, question the cheaply made bayonet combined with a higher quality scabbard. The milled cutter plate in place of the cheaper stamped one. The seamles...

Re: Egyptian AKM 6X4 Type II Bayonet W/O Sawteeth
I categorize bayonets and scabbards like these as, "Frankenstein", bayonets. Made and assembled from parts and pieces supplied by different countries and issued/used by yet other countries. If anyone has ever studied the Communist doctrine at the time they were made, the military arms prod...

Re: Egyptian AKM 6X4 Type II Bayonet W/O Sawteeth
A very nice example of whatever it is!? Almost too nice to be Egyptian production. The blade is much better made and does appear to be Polish. Same with the crossguard. I believe that the assemble was imported to Egypt from either Poland or another ComBloc country and made cheaper by eliminating the...

Re: AKM 6x4 Yugoslavia
Agree, it is a Yugoslavian AKM 6X4 Type II bayonet and scabbard. The hanger is the correct original style with the tan color and a hook loop more elongated than other countries. The hook should also have the vertical grooves on the inside!? Also note in the pictures the hand etched marking on the ri...
