Trying to ID this bayonet

Step-daughter gave me bayonet she found in her father's apartment after he died, he was a Vietnam vet and she wondered if he brought it back with him. Googled and so many choices, luckily I found this great forum, so hope to get any information.

I want to say Romanian, but I bow to the experts here.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Mik

Hi Mike
Nice way to start a collection. Great pictures. Yes, it’s a Romanian AKM 6X3 Type l bayonet and scabbard with matching numbers. Note they are numbered to match a rifle serial number. The all leather wrap around belt hanger is also correct. You are missing the rubber insulator on the scabbard and the two buckle leather wrist strap on the bayonet.
Please PM me about replacements.
BTW, from our data base, rifles with the SAG XXXX serial numbers were made in 1981. So a little late for ‘Nam. These were more common in the Middle East and Balkans. Also, no bowing here in the colonies. Cheers, Mike

Mr. B.

You legend, knew it wouldn't take long for one of you experts to have info. Highly appreciated indeed.

Thank you.

Daughter wasn't sure if her Dad brought it back from Nam, now we know he didn't. I think she wants to sell it.

Any idea how much this would likely sell for?

There were large quantities of these imported as surplus. Yours appears to be in good condition, but missing the insulator and strap. I would guess somewhere between $25. - $35.. Ones in excellent condition with matching numbers and all parts $45. - $55.. Certain rare variations complete will bring $80. - $120.
Unfortunately ones like yours are late issue and quite common. Old proverb, “An item is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.” Mike
