These pictures show the unusual mounting system for the VZ58 Bayonets. The VZ58 is not a true Kalashnikov weapon and is mechanically different although appearing similar. The bayonet has a longitudinal mounting slot in the top of the hilt and slides on from the back. The catch is mounted in the cross guard. The mounting lug on the rifle is machined into the front sight base.
