How about a basic overview of the belt hangers used by the Romanians on their AKM 6X3 Type I bayonets and scabbards.
These bayonets were in production from 1963 through 1989 and the hangers issued/used varied over the years. There does not seem to be much consistency in the styles and their dates of issue. Even the dimensions, patterns, materials and construction vary widely within the basic styles. Different colors and texture of leather, different colors and patterns of stitching, different colors and placement of rivets, etc.. The later fabric and leather hangers also had all these differences as well. The all leather hangers all are narrowed waisted with one straight sided example. The fabric and leather hangers a found in both a narrow and wide styles. The 1st and oldest styles are similar to the ones found in Russia and other ComBloc countries. They are the one and two piece snap hook style hangers. The Romanian ones are typical dark brown leather with most having embossed edge lines. All the one hook hangers seem to use the flattened hook rings. The snap hook hangers are typically associated with the flat pommel bayonets.
