Re: Romanian Unmarked Bayonet
Hi Stefan,
It appears that you had a good day and aquired some nice examples. However, I am not sure about this one. What makes you think it is Romanian? Mike

Re: Romanian Unmarked Bayonet
Thank you, Mike! When you say like this I am not so sure any longer...
I can not point at anything special but I think that the colors are Romanian...
Maybe I am completely out in the blue...
Best,
Stefan

Re: Romanian Unmarked Bayonet
If you did, I would say you are correct!? Did you find the clues? Cheers, Mike
Re: Romanian Unmarked Bayonet
There are many differences. The most obvious to me is the hook at the bottom of the crossguard. Other than a few early Russian Type I bayonets, only the Hungarian ones have a round hook. All the others are more angular. The leather on the Hungarian hanger is natural with a white waxy finish. The Romys used a smooth reddish brown faced leather.
The early Romys did have the flat pommel version that appears similar, but are completely difference when you look closely. Compare pictures of each. Yes, a fun hobby, Mike
