Romanian Type II variations

I just recently added two new Romanian 6x4 bayonets.
One being an “A1170” serialized SA contract and a regular Romanian army issued.
Here is pictures of the SA contract bayonet. It came complete with the original strap and hanger.

Here is comparison pictures to my other SA contract bayonet serialized “A1021”. The “C” stamp on the cross guard is only present on “A1021”. From a few sources I have heard that the “C” only has been observed on bayonets within the A10xx range. Can any one confirm their observations in regards to that? Brian perhaps?

Here is pictures of my second rom army issued 6x4. Serialized “1345” and proof marked with the pinkish paint. Its interesting how those paint marks were absent from the SA production run.

This example came from the AoA deal back in 2017. It also came complete with a hanger.

I will dig my SA ones out and take a look.
I expect this came in trade from a SA collector? We are the only 2 that have had any numbers of them.
I have not seen one available in years now. They remain locked up at 5 Recce. But I am trying all the time. I need some, to be able to trade for pebble grip ones and other rarities I still need
I still find the T2 Rony's some of the more interesting bayonets, especially since info is so rare. Why the letters on the scabbards, why did they go back to Type 1's etc.
The quest continues.

The A letter is interesting. Also the B,C and H that is seen on scabbards of the Romanian issued.
All those letters could they perhaps indicate departments of production? Different factory sites? Im just guessing.
Im also wondering if there was other countries in the past that made deals with Romania on 74 type rifles. In that case there are other export variants out there.

Its a much wanted item to quite a few collectors.

Yeah, considering I haven't seen any more SA ones turn up in many years now, I think whatver batch "escaped" from Recce stores up North are now where they will live.
But if you find someone with a decent pebble bayo, let me know. That's possibly something that may pry my spare SA one from my tight grip

I just added another Romy 6x4 SA exporter.. this one is numbered “1209” and for the record here is pictures.
Im still interested in knowing how many of these that walked out of storage. 20 - 30 pieces?

Congratulations! Another nice addition. I believe Brian is the expert on these bayonet. Maybe he’ll have some comments? I’ve given up on even having one, or even any Romy Type II for that matter. Mike

I think probably over 50 left the stores. I guess there are about 250 rifles, but I can't get a firm quantity from the Recces. Maybe all left the stores and were given to operators...can't be sure. But they definitely came out with Recces and people affiliated with Spec Ops.
They have been exceptionally scarce lately. One came up for sale locally a few weeks ago, but I missed it at a bargain price due to an internet glitch. Went to another collector who hoards them.
I've personally seen more than 40, split between overseas guys and 3 or 4 local collectors. Good score.

Brian, regarding pieces that left the crates at storage - that is more than I initially thought.

Personally, I traded for two of mine.
The latest one came out of a European collection that recently was broken up. It came complete with all it’s leather accessories.
Price was very fair set.

I guess im set with these now that I got one of each serial range.

They were consecutive serials, so no real serial range as such.
I believe the first would have been A1000. Don't think there are any A13xx guns.
Therefore logic says there were probably about 250 guns or at most, 300 guns ordered. Maybe they gave out 100 bayonets to people, no way to know. I have people who have seen the rifles there, but not bayonets. So maybe all were given out...or maybe just a large box.

This picture is dated August 3rd, 2002 and illustrates the Romanian 26th Infantry Battalion getting ready for a training session before deployment to Iraq.
Note the far right infantry man. On his vest attaches, from what I can see, a rarely seen true type 2 AIMS bayonet, with the full plastic scabbard.
