Hungarian AKM 6X3 Type I Export Markings

Post by Mr. B. »

The Hungarian AKM 6X3 Type I bayonets and scabbards seem to have been exported all over the world. Most of the last commercial or contract bayonets are found devoid of any markings. Occasionally one is found stamped with, " MADE IN HUNGARY FEG", on the right side of the crossguard. Supposedly this was done to conform with US, and possibly other countries, import regulations. Recently I noticed one marked differently with just, "HUNGARY". A minor variation, but interesting to record. Mike

FEG (“FEGARMY Arms Factory Ltd.”). a Hungarian industrial group that also manufactured military small arms.
This company had created an artificial price stability through price fixing, and was embargoed for its products after 2004, and was also forced to label its goods in international trade with this text: "Made IN HUNGARY FEG".

Whether this simple marking on the second photo: (HUNGARY) is original, I cannot judge.

Sorry I got the year wrong, it was 1999 and not 2004.
