This version of the Russian AKM 6X4 Type II bayonet and scabbard are rarely seen and or mentioned. They are basically a standard issue item with some special finish and markings. They are used as visual aids by training cadres during small arms and bayonet training. I do not have one of these in my collection. I have seen a couple of these for sale recently and have borrowed some pictures for reference. Also below is an illustration from a Russian reference showing the training mark on the cross guards. It is possible that they could be found on both Tula and Izhevsk bayonets. It is possible other variations of Russian bayonets and small arms can also be found with these markings.
Both the bayonet and scabbard have been painted black. Two small Cyrillic letters have been stamped in the right side of bayonet cross guard and front of the scabbard cutter plate stop. These items should also have matching issue numbers as they are taken from issue inventory. Mike
