Polish AK Bayonet Collection

Post by Mr. B. »

Here I am, stuck here in the middle of the USA. Home isolating due to COVID-19 and currently experiencing a winter blizzard. Storm warnings, streets and roads closed, travel not recommended. Freezing rain and then snow, high winds and dropping temps due to the "Polar Vortex". We already had 3+ feet of snow on the ground from previous storms. I decided to spend the day re-arranging my display walls. Recently, I have been researching Polish bayonets and scabbards so pulled them off to create a separate display. This is what happens after you spend over 30 years collecting AK bayonets. Below are pictures of just my Polish collection. All the bayonets and scabbard have matching numbers or are un-numbered. They all represent different variations in the bayonets, scabbards, insulators, hangers, straps or finishes. Missing a few accessories, but also have a few extras. The books are Polish language references and a folder with pages of translations. Mike

Amazing and impressive. You've made good use of your time!

I don't know how many times I've rearranged my safes since we've been in COVID lockdown.

Hi Gerhard, I suspect that numbers started over each year to match with rifles. I also suspect that one or both of my dark brown grip bayonets may be "Modofen" (plastic) after seeing your pictures? Could you tell by close up pictures? Mike

6H3 grip colors and numbers:
Black w/red pieces 03542
Dark brown 01140
Brown 12437 (blued scabbard)
Dark orange 20730
Medium orange 03933
Orange un-numbered

Hi Mike,
The Polar Vortex caught me too, no Problem, I don't have to go to work.

My Polish 6H3 with the black and red handle are numbered from 0xxxx to 22107.
Dark brown only up to 02155
Brown marbled until 20917
I think we won't find numbers over 30000.
