Re: Russian Snap Hook Hangers AKM - AK74
A friend in Poland recently sent me a picture of a snap hook hanger and asked what it was. I had remembered seeing this variation in the past, but had no information as to what it was. I found more pictures online of a similar hanger with a plastic or nylon, (synthetic?) hilt strap post. These pictures were of a reworked Russian AKM 6X3 Type I bayonet and scabbard the looked correct. I have seen similar all leather hangers with metal, (brass and steel) posts and have some in my collection. Has anyone else noticed these variations with the plastic posts or other hangers? The top picture is from my friend. The rest were on eBay. Note the snap hook is grooved on the back similar to the East German ones. Mike

Mike,
All kinds of field repairs came out of the Balkans and the Middle East. First plastic thorns/studs I've seen used on a bayonet hanger. I've seen plenty used on magazine and other pouches.
