Russian Kalashnikov Bayonet Chronology
I put this list together as a handy reference. It's basic and simplified, but a good guide to where and when certain bayonets variations were produced. This is not for the scabbard variations, but they were closely related. Maybe I'll work on that.
Note: The AKM 6X4 Type 4 & 5 bayonets in 1986 were made (assembled) by an arsenal, (Izhevsk), sub contractor.

Re: Russian Kalashnikov Bayonet Chronology
How about TsNII TochMash? Below is the actual name from my research. I believe this is who was responsible for the material and molding of the grips on the 6X4 Type 4 and 5. They apparently used the blade- cross guard assembly and complete pommel from Izhevsk. Most of these bayonets also used the long version of the Type II scabbard from Izhevsk. However they may have molded some from new grip material, (PA-6), using molds from Izhevsk. Several un-marked scabbards have been found? Experimental or trials? Mike
TSNIITOCHMASH (Russian: ЦНИИТОЧМАШ) is a Russian industrial design bureau. TSNIITOCHMASH is a major designer and producer of weapons for the Russian military and MVD Internal Troops.

Mike,
Thanks for the correction. I wasn't looking at my notes but TsNII TochMash is who I meant indeed. They supply refurb parts marked with the window pane mark. I believe they are actually located in or near Tula.

Re: Russian Kalashnikov Bayonet Chronology
Does anyone on this board have a 6X4 Type 4 and/ or 5 in their collections?
Stay safe

Been offered, but the price is waaay out there. Over 1200 Euro.
Not yet. One of these days.... First I want to acquire a mechanism for my NRS or NRS2.
Good work Mike. Next would be a simplified illustrated version of your chart, maybe a small pdf
