New book in preparation

Post by ilian »

Hello everyone,

I am opening this topic to announce that i'm preparing a new book (in french language with english summary).
I want to do an all level collector book.

I'm working with Christian Mery the owner of the Brevail Edition, a publishing company here in France.
Christian Mery wrote many book about bayonets.

http://editionsdubrevail.com/

All help is welcome, for the moment i'am looking for russians soldiers with AK bayonet (like a complete a squad)

In the first part, i want to present the standard types of AK bayonets using 3D views
In the the seond one, i want to present bayonets by country.
I hesitate to present knife derivate from AK bayonets in an hypotetic 3rd part.

Don't hesitate to ask or to say what are feelings/thinking about this project.

Thanks. :-)

That sounds like a very interesting project. I would be glad to help in any way I can. My collection, pictures, information, references, etc., are available to you. Let me know what I can contribute. In my opinion it should be limited to just bayonets. like you mention maybe knives in a later project. Mike

Good for basic identification, but can they be detailed enough to determine a specific country or manufacturer. The one above could be either an AKM 6X4 or 6H4 Type II. However is it East German, Russian, (Tula or Izhevsk?), Polish, or even Romanian? Details such as grip color and marbling. How about molded or stamped markings, circle 10, star, arrow in triangle. Even metal finish helps identify, paint, phosphate, blue, matte, brushed, bright. Maybe use the 3D pics along with detailed photo and/or line drawings? M.

3D pics will be used only to present bayonets types ;)

I will use Hi-res pictures to present bayonets by country.

Good presentation. Excellent overall pictures. Maybe supplemental closeup pictures of the small details and marking to help identify variations? For example the differences in the arsenal mark on the Romanian 6x4 above and the similar Russian Izhevsk mark. Mike

Do you thing R4 bayonet must be included in this book?

What do you want to see in this book? Like galil derivate or just "pure" AK ?

Difficult to draw that line. VZ58, INSAS, Finnish Valmet, R4, Eichhorn, Galil, and all the latest Kalashnikov derivates from the former ComBloc and other countries? Mike

The Vz58 isn't an AK derivate but GALIL, INSAS, R4 are derivate from AK, i have one KCB-77 M7 but it could fit an AKM, i have to try on an AK74

I need pictures of AK bayonets mounted on AK type II and type III too, thanks per advance for your help.

Kind regards.
