INSAS
Here is the Indian INSAS bayonet. Not really an AK variant strictly speaking, but usually included due to its similarity to some AK bayonets. Not mine, found on the net years ago. But have one in my collection.

Re: INSAS
I just picked up an Indian INSAS bayonet & scabbard as well. Does anyone have any information on what belt hanger is used or perhaps a picture? Even better, does anyone have an original one for sale or trade?

Re: INSAS
In spite of being mass produced, the INSAS bayonet remain difficult to obtain due to the fact that they have not been released by the military and are illegal to possess by civilians in India. The INSAS system was somewhat of a failure in India and is being phased out after being used by India, Nepal, Bhutan and Oman. The INSAS weapons, including bayonets may soon sold to other countries and perhaps become more available in the future.
During my research I have found that there are at least five documented variations of the INSAS bayonet and scabbard.
1. All black metal parts, (painted or blued?) with shinny tan plastic.
2. All grey metal parts , (phosphate?) with dull tan plastic
3. All black metal parts with black plastic.
4. All black metal parts, shinny tan plastic and bright blade
5 All black metal parts, black plastic and bright blade.

Re: INSAS
I recently observed an Indian INSAS bayonet and scabbard listed on eBay. As I compared the pictures I found them almost identical except for one thing. The one on eBay had the manufactures marks on both the bayonet and scabbard, mine did not. On closer examination mine appears to have originally had the marking, but they had been removed at some time. It looks like someone obliterated the markings with a hot tool of some kind. Top picture is from eBay listing, the rest are mine. Mike

Re: INSAS
Does anyone have any information about the manufacturers of the INSAS bayonet and scabbard? Is WINDLASS an Indian military manufacturer? In my research I found that they are an India based company. The also have offices in the USA and Great Britain. They are reported to make military items, but also make movie props and replicas of swords and knives. Are the few bayonets, (marked and unmarked), in our collections actual military issue items or just copies/replicas? Mike
