Very Nice! A few of these came in to the U.S. earlier this year. Most had miss-matched numbers, but a few were matching. They were too expensive for me at the time. I would like to have a matching one, but would take a miss-matched one if the price was right. I would prefer to trade for one if possible. I have some duplicates if anyone is interested. Mike

Got this excellent/matched one in the mail today (Thank You, Santa!) This variant is one which has a capital "B" molded onto the reverse side of the scabbard at the bottom, where normally one would see the Cugir "Arrow-in-triangle" arsenal mark:

Did not get it from AOA. Got a lead from a guy I met at a collector show a couple of weeks back. I actually acquired one from him at the time, but due to a misunderstanding on the seller's part, I ended up returning it to him. He later emailed me, and having contacted the guy he had gotten his Romy T2 from, said the fellow was willing to part with one he had. So, I followed thru and got the example pictured. If I am not mistaken, the serial numbers of both were very close.

I checked with a friend whom also has one with the "B" on the scabbard. His came in the same batch of rifle parts kits mine did, from the same seller. The serial number on his T2 is 5487. I did a comparison between the bayonet pictured and a South African contract I have. Here are the differences I noticed:
The differences I see between the two are the S.A. one is of earlier production (with grip mold # "1/1"). The grip is a very dark red color, too. The scabbard bears the CUGIR arrow-in-triangle marking on the reverse side. Lastly, the press-stud has a very good fit and the two flats on top of the steel pommel are quite squared off. On the example I pictured here (5854), grip mold # is "3/2". Both flats have a slight bevel from front to back, on the outer edges. There is also a gap at the top of the cut-out for the catch stud (left side). Looks like the top of the stud is a bit shorter rather than the cut-out being oversized. Don't know if this was due to sloppy machining/assembly or more play engineered into the catch.

I just received another Type II Romy contract one. At least we assume Romanian contract, but I suspect these were made for another country. Not sure though.
This is one of the ones with Cugir logo on handle and letter on the scabbard. Matching numbers.
My previous ones have the letter C.
This one, has the letter H.
So far, we have seen B, C and H?
And we are still no closer to working out why these don't have the double logo. Anyone have any ideas at all? Seems odd that there are some with logo and some with letter. Unless maybe some scabbards were made by a different company, but doubt that. Anyone?

Fantastic. Did this one also come from the USA (AoA) or was it found in Europe?
I think there are still a great many questions about these.

this one came from the US. It could potentially have come from the AoA thing. A reseller from lithuania bought about 10 pieces from the US. All with the double cugir logo. He told me he missed some with letters on the scabbard. I was also told that these had been in Romanian armory storage for all these years and then sold with romanian rifle kits. Production year were determined to be 1992.
I believe he still got some for sale.
