Here's what I think.

Wow ........definitely rare!  I have never seen one similar before.  Looks like a one of a kind, hand made item to me.  Reminds me of a Khyber Pass hand made copy.  EVERYTHING on both the bayonet and scabbard appears to be hand made and assembled.  ALL the details on ALL individual parts are irregular with crude machining and finish.  Tool marks, even vise marks, are visible on most parts.

It could possible be an authentic prototype made in Turkey, but I sincerely doubt it. The main question would be .....WHY?  AKM bayonets are available new and used from many sources at relatively cheap prices as are the AKM rifles. Why would the Turks be interested in setting up and manufacturing just the bayonets as to my knowledge they have never made the AKM rifles either. Even the machinery to produce them would be available from the ComBloc countries.

The second question would be the location of the seller ..... Bulgaria ....... where ANYTHING seems to be possible? I would definitely like to see some form of providence before I would be interested, especially at that price.

A third minor question would be the absence of a means of attaching a scabbard hanger?        Mike

Hmmm..I agree on the grip and crudeness, but the blade and sawback would not be easy to fabricate from scratch. Maybe salvaged from a bayonet. But the story isn't impossible either. Going to send this info to the arms factories I deal with in Turkey and ask if they can verify any of that. An odd one indeed.

Hmmm. I know from experience that exporting bayonets from Turkey is as difficult as exporting firearms. But going to have a word with a few people there.

Damn...do I have to add Turkey to the country list now?

It appears that I have been proven wrong yet again. My apologies to the eBay seller in Bulgaria!

Thanks Brian. Yes, It appears you need to add Turkey as they seem to be manufactured in quantity by Mitas in Turkey as advertised. In my opinion these pictures from the Mitas web site are sufficient providence. I still question why they would bother. And it also seems Egypt has competition for the worst QC during the manufacture of Kalashnikov bayonets.

It would also be nice to see the rubber insulator they use on the scabbard as they have the spot welded stop for one. Also would like to see how they attach a belt hanger to the scabbard, as there is no stud or bar. The leather scabbard pictured is possible, but it would rule out use as a wire cutter. Mike

Yet another oddball bayonet to add to the list.

The prices of this stuff makes me almost want to get out of AK Bayonet collecting. AT $100-$150 I might be in but not at $1000.

Hell, I think I might set up the first US AK Bayonet factory, or the Republic of Texas AK bayonet factory. Make a couple 100 units and sell for $1000 each and go ahead and retire.

Yes MDI, another oddball to add to the want/need(?) list. At least it has some providence. Similar to the NDM, INSAS and G36 etc.. At least it isn't another cobbled up assembly of parts or modification of existing items. Yes, the prices seem unreasonable on some items, but the laws of supply and demand kick in at some point. Older items that are out of production and of known limited numbers will always be sought after and continue to hold or increase in value. This is true regarding collecting of almost all items from coins and stamp to cars, etc.

I have pretty much retired and the prices on this one are way too high for me also. Let me know when you get ready to set up the ROT factory as I would like to get in on the ground floor. Mike

I saw the piece on Feebay yesterday and noted it had been removed by the seller as "no longer available". Makes me think he may have gotten an offer and sold it offline. Will be interested to hear what the manufacturer has to say. Do I hear "Group Buy" anyone...?

Going to ask my contacts at the arms companies in Turkey if they can get me some. But judging by how hard it is for them to even get and export Turkish G3 bayonets from MKE....bayonets are not easy to acquire or export. A LOT of paperwork. But will try.

I offered these bayonets on Ebay.
Right now, after the coup, is impossible to get more.
I have 4 for sale/trade. Sale price is 700 $ shipped worldwide.

Turkish MITAS AK 47
All metal parts black phosphated
The handle made of wood with very thick with clear paint.
The grip head measures 3,8cm in width !!!
Metal parts are well processed.
The blade is not sharpened.
The clamping springs of the scabbard face with a screw.
The wooden handle a real bone, can hold bad in the hand.
I think with other 6X3 handles it would be acceptable.

Unser Mittglied Naiden Iliev verkauft welche.
Die sind nicht gerade billig ,einen besseren Preis aushandeln wäre angebracht.

Yes, I had forgotten about that. It was over a year ago and it was well over my means then. I had hoped that more would show up and at a cheaper price.

On a side note, any ideas about what they planned on using as a hanger and where would it attach to the scabbard???

Heres mine. This is to date the most crude ak bayonet i have ever seen. The grip is horrible being too big, and the actual blade is sort of “woobly” when slightly moven. I would’t bring this one into a fight. The release button seems too stiff and I would be afraid to mount this on a rifle in fear of it never coming off.
All that being said, I think its a cool variant to hold in my collection. It brings great variety and the black blade is cool. ;)

Turkish police with ak’s. Notice the type56 with an east german polymer stock fitted and the spiker dismounted. Perhaps due to a handguard with no bayonet groove.

No sign of the turkish akm bayonet though.
