Re: AKM Bayonets & Scabbards

I understand Mike's reasoning for turning the Romy bayonets in the hangers, however, I like to display then as you would see them worn in the field, so with the hanger loop to the front. Just my personal preference. All of my bayonets are get in map drawers so I don't have the dust concern.

Mike,

I like that plan.
I have some original Russian formula black paint so I will probably due this to at least get one Tula in a Tula scabbard.

I don't have a white wrist strap of either type and my white hanger is rough.

Mike, I looked at your post with Yugo wrist straps and didn't see anything that looked exactly like my Iraqi wrist straps.

Re: Iraqi Tabuk AKM Type II

Wrist_Straps_IYD_F.JPG Wrist_Straps_IYD_B.JPG The Iraqi strap has a large size single head rivet to form the loop. The rivet on it has areas that are flatted and appear to be hammer marks like it was set without using a seating punch and die. This particular strap is from a non-serial numbers Tabuk...

Re: Polish Web hangers on eBay

Good catch guys. I stand corrected.
Mine doesn't have weird stitching. The stitching looks like original but on closer examination the webbing has obviously been cut off of something. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

Re: Iraqi Tabuk AKM Type II

Mike, From my observation, there is a known difference between Tabuk and Yugoslav made hangers. As with Richard's hanger, all of the hangers that I have seen from bayonets captured in the Tabuk factory have hangers that fasten right over left as viewed from the front versus left over right for Yugos...

Re: INSAS

Windlass Cutlery has been the distributor for Indian Military blades for maybe a century or more. They also handle export sales for Indian military blades. In my opinion, what we have in our collections are no different than what would have been issued to the Indian military with the INSAS rifles. T...

Re: Chinese Type 56 Folding Spike Bayonet

Mike, The Albanians did indeed make a stamped receiver version of the Type 56 AK. The ones I have seen that are full Albanian production and not just assembled from Chinese and Albanian parts mixture, do not have the mag well dimples. I have not seen one in person to look closely at the bayonet, but...

I carry a P38 in the watch pocket of my jeans. Quit the key ring think when I ripped my leg open one day while pulling my keys out of my pocket in a hurry. I also keep the larger version of the P38 (forgot the designation) in my desk drawer at work.

Re: Bulgarian AK47 Hybrid Bayonet & Scabbard

Mike, The Bulgarians still produce milled receiver AKs based on the Soviet T3. They have been updated with a variety of things like a 90 degree gas block similar to the AK74s' gas block and black plastic furniture similar to that used on the AK74. The US government is one of Bulgaria's main customer...

Re: Is it Russian or Finnish AK47 bayonet?

Mike, Trying to ID which country a Russian export bayonet was sent to is near impossible. East Germany used Russian T2 and T3 AK's and the bayonets until they could get production going but I have no idea how to tell a Russian AK or bayonet issued to them unless maybe they have an NVA stamp on them ...

Richard, Sorry, I've been off this board for awhile. I would have worked something out with you. I bought a letter scabbard AIMS74 bayonet from a fellow collector on GunBroker for a reasonable price. Can't read the serial number on the knife and no hanger or wrist strap so I threw a Romanian brown l...

I have the hanger and have handled the Polish Y-strap. The hanger is a purpose made unit that is based on the matrial from the Y-strap as far as I can tell, not cut off of a Y-strap assembly.

Those are actually Romanian produced items. It does indeed look good with the hanger. Like Mr. B. I bought entire belt assemblies just to get the hangers. I have a ComBloc Dagger collection also that required buying the Romanian belt and hangers to get the belt loops and d-rings. The Romanians had a...
