Re: The Russians are coming!

Mike, could that just be an early strap with a buckle added. Anthony, is there a slot cut in the end with the buckle/ Or maybe is this wrist strap a little shorter than others? I can imagine the slot in the end hooked to the ross guard tearing out and someone cutting the end off and adding a buckle ...

Re: Collection for sale

Very interesting. Even with the KM86, NRS1, and some of the other rarer pieces, I don't get a total value of $8000 let alone the $19000 being asked. Anyone disagree with me. I don't blame the person for trying to sell as a unit, but I don't see this going anywhere, anytime soon. If it does, I'l be s...

Bought the first six I saw at the Brandenburg Gate Flea Market Oct. 3. 1990. Still have one of these original six in my collection.

Re: Russian Kalashnikov Bayonet and Scabbard Evolution

Yes indeed the "square" pommel 6X3 being produced only by Izhevsk is an interesting bit of info. One that falls under sometimes you're too smart for your own good also has come to light from this article. I had one of the 6X2 bayonets with the crappy molded Aluminum handles at one time. Th...

Re: Type I Flat Pommel Variation

Mike,

I have flat pommel serial number ST0786. And I have an un-serial numbered of the other type. Th unnumbered knife's stop lug doesn't have the factory logo on it and its face is not flattened and still shows the mold ridge from casting.

Re: Russian 6X5 straps, hangers and etc

Mike, I was wondering if you were going to mention the "d-ringless" hanger. I still need one of those. They are actually the correct hanger (to the best of my knowledge) for the 6X5 without the wire cutter plate.

Re: Russian Snap Hook Hangers AKM - AK74

Mike,

All kinds of field repairs came out of the Balkans and the Middle East. First plastic thorns/studs I've seen used on a bayonet hanger. I've seen plenty used on magazine and other pouches.

I don't have a fake to show side by side comparisons. I think there may be some side by sides in one of the other sections.

Re: Honor Guard Vz 58

Again, nice info. I find it interesting that the scabbard for the bayonet is tan leather and not white. I have 3 VZ58 type rifles (2 Czech made and 1 US made the latter of which I use for a beater car gun). Would love to have some 10 or 20 rd. factory mags.
