Re: Different pommel AKM

I think Ilian was talking about the top one...the so-called "square round back"
Still much debated. There was a conclusion they were replaced handles, but then the release of that Russian document saying they are indeed the early ones.

Re: What is Behind the Upward Spiral of AK Bayonet Prices?

Possibly also the increased info available. When you have more info on variations like this site and Facebook, you get more collectors and more education, and prices rise. Our little secret is no longer secret anymore, and people realize this is a fascinating and complicated theme, and now sellers c...

Re: Collection for sale

Are all the NRS's in Western collections that we know about missing the mechanism? Asking for a friend... :rotfl:
Seems impossible to find that part.

Re: Israeli bayonet

I'm with Mike. And when I speak to my military contacts in Israel, they always tell me there is NO official issue knife or bayonet like this. Seems one of those things that if repeated enough times...becomes fact. I avoid them. Not to say the Yugo or Romy ones aren't legit, but I doubt they were don...

Re: Russian Kalashnikov Bayonet and Scabbard Evolution

I was just coming here to post that! Was sent it by member Tal Kats. Once I went through it translated, it is one of the more important articles I have read so far, and it has a lot of good info. It also confirms a lot of info we had deduced, but brings up some new info that is important. I am going...

Re: Bit scarce for the next few weeks

Thanks guys. Op went ok...I am recovering slowly. Out of action for about 6-8 weeks and mainly bed bound with a little hobbling around.
But all ok, I'm still here. Thanks for the kind wishes.

Bit scarce for the next few weeks

I'll be a bit scarce here for a few weeks. Having had serious sciatica the past year or so.....seen physio, chiro, neuro, mri scan, ct scan, doctors etc etc. Kept repeating to the point that I couldn't walk or get out of bed. 3 x Spinal block injections. Only one worked. Last round of this hit me 3 ...

Another sad loss - Bill Porter

Bill Porter passed away after a brief battle with Cancer. Bill was one of the leading experts on many bayonets, especially USA bayos, and lots of experimental and rare bayos. Well known for "Porter's Page" http://www.usmilitaryknives.com/porters_page.htm and anywhere rare bayos were discus...

Interesting Russian article on rare variants

A kind local collector sent me the link to this article. It appears to have a lot of info on rare variations of the Russian bayos. I have a part Google translation, but maybe someone here with time can format the article into a pdf with pics, and we can work on a translation? Take a look. Would LOVE...
