Re: Russian 6x4 EL Salvadorian Police?
I did get the piece off G.B. Put in a bid and think it cost me $69.00/delivered. I recall the seller wanted double the amount ($14.00) for shipping, when one could send it via USPS PM Flat rate for $6.80. The bayonet is a matching Izhevsk, non-rework example. The suspension is of natural leather wit...

Re: Indian INSAS bayonet hangers
Excellent research. Will have to keep an eye open for this frog. Actually, I don't have a INSAS bayonet (although I had three come thru my hands in the last few years). Thought it was just too peripheral to my interests, so sold them to others...maybe I ought to have kept one anyway...

Re: Russian Hanger for Molle LBE
This suspension appears to be the next step in bringing the AK bayonet into the 21st century. I think the Lithuanian produced pattern was an interim step, and would be considered a true frog/suspension. Now this Soviet, Molle-inspired pattern is not unlike somewhat similar types for other, modern ba...

Russian 6x4 EL Salvadorian Police?
I just picked this bayonet up and expect to have it in couple of weeks. The seller's description piqued my interest and the price was reasonable enough so decided to acquire it. I asked the seller if he had any additional information about this bayonet other than what he learned from the tag which w...

Hard to tell if that suspension is permanently part of the vest or not. If the latter then expect we will see one of these turn up eventually.

Brian: Excellent detective work...I like how you "sniffed out" that table full of goodies "around the corner". I have attended a number of collector shows over the years and sometimes can almost sense a deal is nearby! Now, if you can only sidle up to these guys by sharing your k...

Re: Mystery Turkish AKM Type I Bayonet & Scabbard
Well well well..... Looky here. http://www.mitasmakina.com/-60-product-113.html http://www.mitasmakina.com/-60-product-111.html Hmmm. I know from experience that exporting bayonets from Turkey is as difficult as exporting firearms. But going to have a word with a few people there. Damn...do I have ...

Re: Quiet
Thanks Brian for LMK about the suspension on your first pattern 6X5. Yes, mine came from Latvia via Ebay. The mold number is 1-1 on the bayonet & 1-2 on the matching scabbard. I do not know what the production threshold is for number of components before a mold becomes worn out. I also suspect, ...

Re: Quiet
Strangely, the hanger I received with the bayonet is equally unusual. I was informed it is a early variant for the Russian 6x3 (see last 3 photos). Since the first-pattern 6x5s have been knocking around for over a quarter of a century, I guess just about any suspension type might now be encountered ...

Re: Quiet
Well, it seems by the first part of June, things begin to slow down somewhat in the collecting field (least that is typical for the USA). Kids are out of school, summer vacations and activities planned...particularly in areas of the country where they have longer and more severe winters. This year t...

Re: Mystery Russian 6X3 Markings !?
From only the one photo it is hard to make a definitive statement. Any possibility this might be a very early Romanian...perhaps assembled from Soviet parts ? They also typically engrave the serial numbers and could the "arrow in triangle" etching be a CUGIR marking and not Izhevsk...?

Re: Vietnam AKM Bayonets (?)
Both of mine (red grip/black grip) are "circle 21" marked. There seems to be some certainty that these were imported to Europe as "knives" sans scabbards, from Vietnam per Stottman. The question here is were they just referred to as "knives" by the exporting country bec...

Mr. B.: First-Class presentation of this variation whose parentage is still in question. I don't know if you read this submission on AKF, but if you missed it, may help to explain some of the mystery on these: http://www.theakforum.net/forums/14-general-discussion/189494-deals-north-korean-ak-bayone...

Well, I see Bill P. joined this Forum just before I did! I also have noted UUIDs for several members I know from another site as well. I am Fred M. and reside in central Arizona. In 1974 I started to collect arms after three years service in the U.S.M.C. Early on I met a 9mm pistol collector whom no...

Re: Is this a Romy thin/narrow pommel?
I've given up looking at US websites and eBay. Too many collectors, and too many people who know what they are looking for. Don't despair. I got my thin pommel off of Ebay and quite reasonably. It was sans the suspension and with mediocre photos, was likely ignored by most potential bidders. It is ...
