Re: Is this a bayonet for an AK?
Yes, Marco is very knowledgeable about AK Bayonets and is a member of this forum. Good to see the pictures of his book. He has put a lot of time and effort into it. Mike

Re: Is this a bayonet for an AK?
This discussion is not closing! Someone out there has more information. We just have to find them. I have contacted several other collectors sites. I have checked with other collectors and checked all my reference material. Lots of opinions and ideas, but no confirmations. In my opinion it is a prof...

Re: Finnish M62 Hackman
Hi Stefan, Congratulations on the nice M62 by Hackman. Also on having the three main variations. The other variation mentioned in references is for the blades. THere is a short clip point and a long clip point. For me these are difficult to distinguish without have a different one to compare with. A...

Re: Is this a bayonet for an AK?
Hi Rafal, First of all, I was not declaring this bayonet a fake! Just a possibility, as you say, we’ve seen a lot of weird things come out of the Balkans in the past. This bayonet is definitely well designed, manufactured and assembled. Not a backyard Bubba! Still difficult to understand without kno...

Re: Polish 6H4? What are your thoughts?
Hi Hans, Yes, it appears to a correct black Polish AKM 6H4. Some refer to them as Beryl bayonet.Actually there are several variations of this black bayonet. They are not necessarily for the Beryl, but part of the development. Differences in the blade tang behind the muzzle ring. Differences in moldi...

Re: Is this a bayonet for an AK?
The more I study these pictures, the more questions I have. How is the blade tang attached to the pommel? Smooth ground rivet(s)? It would help to see the back end and bottom of the pommel. I would assume the sliding part of the latch is installed from the bottom? Where is the “U” shaped spring that...

Re: Is this a bayonet for an AK?
Yeah, I was surprised to see a serial number on a grip panel. They are usually on metal. The two different numbers are probably part numbers (R-L) or mold numbers. Good possibility they are different somehow, perhaps on the inside, and do not interchange!? We are all curious. This one has us mystifi...

Rafal, May I post a couple of your pictures on other bayonet collectors sites? I have no luck finding any references or information. Thanks. Mike

Re: Is this a bayonet for an AK?
Hi Rafal, I agree with Pwcosol. I have never seen any thing like it, but it is interesting! Time for more research? My answer would be that it could possibly be a Kalashinkov design. The mounting / locking system is similar to the AK47 bayonets. I am unaware of anyone else using the “dragon’s teeth”...

Re: Trying to ID this bayonet
There were large quantities of these imported as surplus. Yours appears to be in good condition, but missing the insulator and strap. I would guess somewhere between $25. - $35.. Ones in excellent condition with matching numbers and all parts $45. - $55.. Certain rare variations complete will bring ...

Re: Russian AK47
In my opinion the bayonet and scabbard at the start of this thread are from the Finnish 1st contract. Based only on the lack of the Russian military acceptance on the bayonet and the belt hanger on the scabbard. Just a guess, an unusual example. Mike

Re: Russian AK47
Also remember that these bayonets and scabbards are not paired or matched with each other. They can be changed and switched around by anyone, for any reason, at any time. Without the Russian military “CB” stamp they are not for Russian issue or use. The unmarked ones could be made for export or cont...

Re: Russian AK47
I just checked my 1st contract Finnish bayonet. I found only one “X” on the scabbard flange. Mine is in New condition and the are no other proof marks. It is one of the three in the last picture below. 4. Serial numbers. Supposably the 4 digit serial numbers stamped on the left side of the pommel ar...

Re: Russian AK47
Wow, another one of these Russian, Finnish, or other contract bayonets and scabbards. I have seen several similar to this in the last year. Ones like yours bring up more questions than information. They don’t seem to follow any of the identification clues we usually use. 1. Scabbard Body. Early Russ...

Congrats on finding the orange grip. All this E.G. stuff has been out of production for a while now. All the good stuff is getting harder to find, most have disappeared into collections. Mike

Re: Trying to ID this bayonet
Hi Mike Nice way to start a collection. Great pictures. Yes, it’s a Romanian AKM 6X3 Type l bayonet and scabbard with matching numbers. Note they are numbered to match a rifle serial number. The all leather wrap around belt hanger is also correct. You are missing the rubber insulator on the scabbard...
