Re: Valmet Bayonets
Many years ago, I was told that the Finn bayonet scabbards & rifle slings were all made from reindeer leather, so they don’t freeze.
Not sure how true that is, but thought I'd post the information.

Brian,
Indeed, I think I did buy them from you, but my memory is not as good as it was, but I am still happy with the purchase.

Re: Lithuanian Frog
Good find.
Many years ago, I bought one of them from a chap in South Africa, see below:
and I have no idea of the purpose of the bottom 'key hole' slot.

Re: Russian AKM 6X3 Type I -II Transitional Bayonets and Scabbards
Mike, Martin & Fred, Apologise for delay in reply, I have been 'under the weather', the last week, so not been online. Thank you all for your replies to my post, which I found interesting to read, and again, I am sure we will never come upon a definitive answer on this, but it is interesting to ...

Re: Russian AKM 6X3 Type I -II Transitional Bayonets and Scabbards
Mike and Ilian, Since reading the article "The History and Evolution of the Soviet/Russian AK Bayonets", I have been thinking this over myself. There is precedent of the 6X4 bayonets being issued with 6X3 scabbards, in Egypt and Romanian, as we know. However, apart from that article, I hav...

Re: Russian AKM 6X3 Type I bayonets and scabbards
Mike,
WOW, now that is really an in depth identification, love it,
However, I am no where near ready to be going into that much detail when 'inspecting' my bayonets.

Attached are pictures of the 6H4's in my collection, including the one with a grey phosphate scabbard, which has been renumbered, the new serial number matching the bayonet. Re: East German KM87 AKM 6X4 TYpe II Bayonet & Scabbard
Gentlemen, What would you think is the current market value for a KM87, without the booklet? An old collector friend of mine in the USA, not a member of this board, sent me this message "I managed to get a East German survival bayonet KM87 for $35.00 at a flea market here. Not mint but complete...

Re: Polish Web hangers on eBay
Looks like my luck is favouring me, as the 'Polish Hanger for Molle LBE' that I ordered, failed to arrive.
So the other day I sent the seller an email and today he has issued a full refund for the MIA hanger, so all ends well on that one, and a few more $'s to spend on something else.

Re: Russian 6X3 & 6X4 Hilt Strap Evolution
Here are borrowed pictures of a Russian AKM 6X4 Type II bayonet with a white hilt strap and hanger. I have never seen this personally . However I have seen pictures from several sources over the years. The bayonet and scabbard appear to be from Tula due to the light color proof / inspection marks. ...

Those are nice additions to your collection.
The scabbard posted in AK Bayonet discussion, 1980 ‘Trench Art’, also has a flat sided hanger stud.
