Re: Algerian bayonet
Didn't mean it was a Chinese made piece. But its heritage is from the Type 81 bayonet.

Re: New Member Introductions
NICO56 welcome on board. Your first two posts are certainly interesting. Now have to figure out how to get access to Algerian bayonets and white painted Soviet AK47 bayonets.

Interesting. I'll see if I can translate anything in the writing that might give us a clue.

Re: Algerian bayonet
Nice find. That is in the format of your basic Chinese export catalog but is from an Algerian company using an Chinese arsenal code of 831 and is in Arabic and French. They are referring to the rifles as the Type 89. Black gripped version of the Type 81 with wire cutter scabbard is definitely intere...

Notice the back bump on the plum and green scabbards appear to be the same shape and the bump on the black scabbard is very different from them.

Must be nice to have enough bayonets you just take them apart whenever you want. LOL
Actually I'm jealous.
As always, great info Mike.

Re: Izmash TypeII
Tula fake actually has been done. A fellow here in Dallas milled one down. He showed me it but wouldn't sell it. Didn't get pictures, but it was a nice job. He also did one of the 6X3's with the cut down pommel just for kicks.
That's why I'm always leery of the machined reduced pommel units.

Re: (10) 6H5 bayonet with russian souvenir marking
Reminds me of all the faked Yugo and Hungarian bayonets with the Israeli markings, the Spetsnaz special 6X4's with the VDV emblem engraving, the DDR bayonets with the hammer and compass emblem engraved on the blade, and so forth and so on. I have what I believe to be an original Israeli issue Hungar...

Re: Bulgarian AK47 Hybrid Bayonet & Scabbard
Richard, The US government in its infinite wisdom destroyed 1000s of AKs captured in Iraq including some brand new rifles from the Tabuk production line and bought Bulgarian AKs to resupply the Iraqis. Their thought was that it was less expensive to buy from the Bulgarians than to have US Armorers c...

Nice info Richard. Basically same thing I heard from Vartan (K-Var chief) several years back. I got my version of this directly from Vartan.

Re: Russian AKM 6X3 Type I -II Transitional Bayonets and Scabbards
The picture posted on Facebook in the Worldwide Bayonet Collectors Forum was easier to see. It didn't translate well. The bayonet in the guys teeth in the original picture is clearly a 6x3. No pommel demarcation line. Also of note is the fact that these two appear to be Air Force or maybe Paratroops...

Re: Russian Kalashnikov Bayonet Chronology
Mike,
Thanks for the correction. I wasn't looking at my notes but TsNII TochMash is who I meant indeed. They supply refurb parts marked with the window pane mark. I believe they are actually located in or near Tula.

I think ilian is on to something here. This may be n actual 6X3 issued with an SVD. Would like to find out more. Is ZL a common prefix for SVD serial numbers? For instance.

Mike,
Fiskars also makes a hunting knife of the same design with a wider blade. Another possibility for the origin of the scabbard.

Re: Valmet Bayonets
Mike, that last, natural leather sewn scabbard looks like a Fiskars fishing knife scabbard to me.
May not be, but that is what it looks like.
