Re: The AK47/AKM Transitional Bayonet?

Croblade is correct. In the Russian AK books these are depicted as a precursor to the AK47 bayonet, not a transition between the AK47 and AKM bayonets.

Re: INSAS

The INSAS rifle is considered an AK varient, Just like th Galil and Valmet rifles. So, I consider their bayonets part of the family.

Re: The AK47/AKM Transitional Bayonet?

Those appear in many of the Russian AK books. They are always listed as experimental - ergo uber rare.

Re: Bulgarian AKM Type II Painted Black

Croblade, Along with the bayonet I pictured my friend also had a Bulgarian knife in an Izhevsk scabbard painted black with the typical Bulgarian black leather hanger and wrist strap as with this bayonet. Therefore, I would agree with your assessment and consider we have evidence for such a conclusio...

Re: WTB Egyptian, Polish, Bulgarian and Russian 47 bayo's

Brian, the Russian knife is referred to as the NR40, the Model 40 or the ZIK 43 depending on the source. I have attached pictures for your perusal. This is a very rare knife. It is not that well constructed so I can see how many of them would not have lasted. This is the real deal, not a copy.

Re: WTB Egyptian, Polish, Bulgarian and Russian 47 bayo's

You have me a little confused. Egypt to the best of my knowledge did not make an AK47 bayonet. They made an AKM type bayonet, but not an AK47 type bayonet. If you are using the term 47 Bayonet to mean specifically AK47 type bayonets, that is one thing, if you are using it to mean all AK type bayonet...

Early VZ58 Bayonet with 3 rivet grip

Another bayonet I picked up at SAR. This one is a Czech VZ58 variation I had not previously seen. It is the early style (in fact the scabbard is dated 1961) with the short tang and rounded hilt. This bayonet is unusual in that it has three rivets visible in the grip.

Bulgarian AKM Type II Painted Black

I picked this bayonet up at SAR last weekend. I had seen them before but ignored them. A friend actually gave this to me. I have heard a couple of stories on these. First story is these were painted by the Bulgarians as part of a specific customer order then the customer backed out and they were sen...

Nice find Brian. I have two variations of this bayonet that I will post pics of later (Logo location and design) both have cotton web, dark green hgangers, but I have also seen examples here in the US with the same hanger you have.

Nope that was refinished in a Soviet arsenal and went back on line with Soviet troops. My best guess the refurbishment was done in Ukraine.

AFGHAN WAR TYPE II AKM WITH FIELD ART

Thought I'd start this section with one of the more interesting blades in my collection. This is an Afghan War period piece with some interesting "Trench Art". The blade has a mountain seen and the word "АФГАНИСТАН" (Afghanistan) carved into it on the right side. On the left side...
