Re: New Polish 6H4 Black

I supposedly have one on the way. I also plan on using the new style hanger.
Brian, unfortunately I only bought one.

Re: New Polish 6H4 Black

For everyone's information. Arms of America has these minus the hanger and wrist strap for $89.95 plus shipping. I've ordered one (had other things to order so the shipping wasn't an issue) and will post pictures when I get it.

That is Pete Philippe. He is breaking up a 20 yr collection and selling it. Let me know what you are interested in and the auction number and I'll see what I can do.

Re: Iraq AKM Type I Transitional Variation ?

Actually I believe the hanger, or frog as you will, is Romanian not East German. Note the flat D-ring and the snap hook is flat backed, plus the dark brown smooth leather.
I always like it when there is a provenance.

Re: Black Grip Hungarian

Mike, A friend has what he believes is a black handled Hungarian. I think it is an East German stuck in a Hungarian scabbard or maybe a Hungarian with replaced grips. I need him to send some good close up pictures of the bayonet. BTW, I have an export Hungarian that is taken apart. It also has the p...

Mike,

Check out this link http://forums.cybernations.net/index.ph ... -and-news/

Clearly id'ed as "Member of the miliție regale, guarding a checkpoint in Dobrogea"

Gets confusing because Air Force and Militie Regale both used blue uniforms and trim.

Re: My first Russian bayonet, AKM Type II I think?

Best thing about this bayonet is the fact it has got you interested in AK bayonets. That is indeed a Tula made knife. It is stuck in an Izhevsk made scabbard. It is a Type II AKM or 6X4 bayonet. Mixing of knives and scabbards occurred during arsenal reworks in Russia, arsenal reworks in Bulgaria, an...

Re: Mystery Turkish AKM Type I Bayonet & Scabbard

Hell, I think I might set up the first US AK Bayonet factory, or the Republic of Texas AK bayonet factory. Make a couple 100 units and sell for $1000 each and go ahead and retire.

Re: Mystery Turkish AKM Type I Bayonet & Scabbard

Yet another oddball bayonet to add to the list.

The prices of this stuff makes me almost want to get out of AK Bayonet collecting. AT $100-$150 I might be in but not at $1000.

Re: Chinese NDM-86 6X4 Type II Bayonet and Scabbard

A lot of guys who bought these rifles sold off the bayonets. I have in the past actually traded guys Russian 6X4 bayonets for these and got cash to boot, because they wanted a Russian bayonet for their Dragunov. I am sure there are a lot of people out there with regrets over doing that sort of thing...

Re: unusal hanger on ak47

Mike, The double band scabbard appears not to have any drain hole so it would be the "Finland" pattern. The other with the wide single band is pure Russian. BTW, any idea why the Finns opted to not have a drain hole? Was it a planned decision or did they just get a bunch of Russian scabbar...

Re: unusal hanger on ak47

Very much Russian style hangers. It appears the studs may have been ground flat on two sides to make fastening easier. I have been tempted to do this myself with some of the more stubborn strap closures I have encountered, but didn't to preserve the history.
