What is a reasonable price to pay for an orange grip DDR?

OK, all that makes sense. This is why I come here, to learn stuff I didn't know before!

Re: Bulgarian AK74 6X5 Type III Hanger Variations

I have one with the brown leather, and two with the black leather, but not the new one. The snap on the belt loop makes sense.

Re: New Member Introductions

Well, can't blame him for that, although it would be awesome. There is a lot of info on the internet, places like this forum, but I'm old school and still like to have a book in my hands! This forum is fantastic, though, and I have learned a lot.

Re: Why?

I am probably just po'd because I have a semi auto Chinese import AK years ago, complete with bayonet, and sold it way too cheap!

Why?

Just curious, new collector. From my understanding from M Ivie's book and from various internet sources, the only Chinese ak bayonet (actually a variant) used by their military was the Type 81. All of the others, including the so called AK 47's were produced commercially to sell to (primarily) Ameri...

My first Maadi

Just got my first Egyptian Maadi, the type one with metal scabbard. These really DO look like they were put together by a blind monkey with a hangover. :-) Lots of nasty glue, green woven wrist strap with rounded end on the buckle, sort of an off black grip. Crude but cool.

Re: Bulgarian AK74 Type III bayonet and scabbard arsenal mark variations

I had not noticed this before. But, I have two that look like picture number two, and one like picture one. Mold numbers on the first two are 1-2, and on the different one, 1-1. So assume that would be the difference. On an unrelated note, the AK74 or whatever one calls it, is really a poor design o...

Re: New Member Introductions

Hi guys, I am Tim Meyer, a former attorney living in Eau Claire, WI. I collected WW2 German militaria, mainly daggers and medals, for many years, until the high prices and widespread fakes that resulted made me decide to get out of that hobby. In December 2016 I bought a Hungarian AKM type 1, then a...

Re: Polish AKM type 2 serial number

Thanks Mike. I will try to post some pictures. I have another polish type 2 in near mint condition, and it has the inspector's marks on crossguard and the wire cutter attachment. This one has no markings of any kind other than the serial numbers and the initials PG scratched into the groove between ...

Polish AKM type 2 serial number

Hi, have a Polish type 2 akm bayonet, with hanger and lanyard, everything looks ok, matching serial numbers, BUT the serial number on the knife is on the reverse side of the crossguard (right hand side if mounted on the rifle). From Martin Ivie's book, should be on the left? Anyone seen this before?
