Re: New Member Introductions

Hi Mik,

Warning! Stop while you can. One AK bayonet often leads to more. It’s like eating just one chip out of a bag. BTW …. Get used to the eye rolls too. It never stops. I still get it after 60 years.
Welcome aboard! Cheers, Mike

Re: Kalashnikov Bayonet

Hi Stefan, My best guess is East German, (DDR), AK47 6X2 bayonet. The scabbard is definitely E.G. AK47 first variation that has been reworked and belt hanger replaced. The E.G. bayonets usually have a solid dark blueing on the hilt and black plastic grip panels. In the pictures you finish seems to b...

Re: Window marking on Russian 6X4 scabbard

Yes, I have the same reference book. My translation is basically the same as the one above. This window marking has been discussed on several online sites. Most agree that it seems to represent an arsenal sub-contractor who makes replacement parts for reworking/ replacement. Perhaps after original p...

Re: Can Anyone help me identifying my bayonet?

Hi Akrem,
It is an East German, (DDR), AKM 6X3 Type l bayonet and scabbard, (Modell 1959). It Appears to be in Good condition with matching numbers. Missing a belt hanger and wrist strap to be complete. These were produced from late 1962 to 1979.

Hi Joe, In the last 6 months I have sold 2 flat pommel Romanian 6X3 Type l bayonets and scabbards on eBay. Both were complete with correct hangers and wrist straps in EXC condition. One brought $135.00 the other $142.50. Like Dragur2791 says, it depends markings, condition, belt hangers and straps. ...

Re: Polish AK47 Bayonet Production & Serial Numbers?

FYI. 1970 marked bayonets had no consistent numbering or placement. No one seems to know where or when they were individually numbered. Many have no numbers, Unissued? Mike

Re: Identify Iraqi / romanian bayonet

The first picture is an enlarged one of the bayonet hilt pictured above. The numbers are blurred and unreadable. The second picture is a sample showing the mold marks on the bottom of an Iraqi Tabuk bayonet grip. If they are present on the bayonet at the top it would help confirm that it was Iraqi. ...

Re: Identify Iraqi / romanian bayonet

Hi Benni, Welcome to our Forum. Lots of good pictures and information here. I agree with your identification of the above item. East German AKM 6X4 Type II scabbard. Romanian AKM 6X3 type I fabric and leather belt hanger. The bayonet appears to be an Iraqi AKM 6X4 Type II. I am unable to confirm tha...

Here is a picture from the Russian reference book compared to the one in my collection. Note, the one in the book has rough circular machining on the front. Mine is as cast, no machining on the front. Mike

Hi Marc, Here are some detailed pictures of what is suspected to be an Albanian ASH 78 bayonet. Left to Right in all pictures are an early Chinese T56 with milled/machined hilt, a later Chinese with a cast hilt, and the Albanian cast hilt. What appears to be corrosion on the Albanian are from the ro...

Yes, I have that book too. I had missed the “R” stamp. I didn’t associate it with the one I have. The “R”s do look the same. I guess if I trust this book I may have an Albanian spike? I have asked for confirmation from other sources which may help. Several of the ASH 78 parts kits have been imported...

Albanian ASH 78 Folding Spike Bayonet

A collector recently posted online looking for detailed pictures of an Albanian ASH 78 folding spike bayonet. This rifle and bayonet are a copy of a Chinese AKM Type 56. There are several differences in the rifle, but the bayonet, (blade and sliding hilt), appears to be the same as the Chinese ones....

Re: Romanian Unmarked Bayonet

There are many differences. The most obvious to me is the hook at the bottom of the crossguard. Other than a few early Russian Type I bayonets, only the Hungarian ones have a round hook. All the others are more angular. The leather on the Hungarian hanger is natural with a white waxy finish. The Rom...
