New Polish 6H4 Blades for Sale?

Recently a picture was posted on another bayonet collectors site. It showed what appeared to be a late version Polish AKM 6H4 Type II hilt whith a black grip, (Beryl?). It also had a what appeared to be an even newer Polish Grote bayonet blade. The Grote is not a Kalishnikov bayonet. There were lots ...

Re: Russian part of my collection

Here are samples of 6X4 original Izhevsk arsenal matching numbers. One set is on an early variation and the other set is on a later variation with the reduced pommel. Mike

Re: Russian part of my collection

Hi Hans, Yes, the hand etched numbers on bayonets 3 and 6 are what I noticed as being inspected, reconditioned, re-numbered, repaired or replaced. Hard to tell on the others in your picture. Original arsenal matching numbers are machine engraved with block numbers. Located on the front lower space ...

Re: Russian part of my collection

Very nice examples! For me, the Russian AKM 6X4 Type I bayonets and scabbards are the stars of a Russian collection. It is possible to have them as a complete stand alone collection. It’s possible to have 20-30 examples. Different arsenals, different mold and stamp marks in different positions, ...

Re: WTS Lithuanian 6x4 with camo frog, MINT

No problem. Just wanted to clarify. It’s actually about the unique belt hanger and not the bayonet and scabbard. The Russian ones would be the correct ones. Also the nice Russians with matching numbers are becoming more difficult to find. A several of my Lithy belt hangers came without bayonets. I d ...

Re: WTS Lithuanian 6x4 with camo frog, MINT

Excellent example! I didn’t realize Lithuania made an AKM 6X4 Type II bayonet & scabbard. I thought they imported them from Russia. All the ones I have ever seen and owned have been made by either Tula or Izhevsk arsenals. Just curious. Would like to see the markings and matching numbers on the b ...

Re: Received four Iraqi Tabuk bayonets

As for the accessories. Iraq acquires the technology, equipment and materials to make the Tabuk bayonets and scabbards From Yugoslavia. This also included the wrist straps and belt hangers. It appears that the Iraqis imported some. But also made their own. Most of the Yugo straps and hangers were ...

Re: Received four Iraqi Tabuk bayonets

Another thing to consider is that these bayonets and scabbards have been handled by many different people at different times and in different places. People that have little or no knowledge of the items or collecting. Lots of mixed up things came out of Iraq! Anything is possible. I would doubt the ...

Re: Received four Iraqi Tabuk bayonets

Very interesting information. I have had the opportunity to own and inspect 30 + Tabuks and seen pictures and info of many more. Most were either numbers matched or completely un-numbered. The bayonets and scabbards are made separately then paired together and numbered. Usually they were also ...

Re: Countries akm2 bayonet

Congratulations! Very nice collection! I seem to recognize a few of them, old friends! I would recommend displaying them with matching scabbards and correct hangers and straps when possible. They seem naked to me without them. The details make them complete and adds to the challenge and fun of ...

Re: German Kalashnikov Bayonet

Hi Stefan, Markings like this are very common in the USA and some other countries. They are the result various customs / import laws. These laws always seem to be in a state of flux. The need for adding and method vary from time to time. Sometimes a whole shipment has to be marked, other times ...

Rare North Vietnamese Type 56 Bayonet?

I was going through an old picture album recently. I found these pictures we took in the late 1960s at the John M. Browning Museum in the Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, USA. Certainly not a Kalashnikov rifle, but definitely an AK bayonet. This originally was a US M14 rifle used in South Vietnam. It ...

Re: Romanian handle logo's prone to wear?

I believe it is a common problem with the logo on the grip of the Romy Type II bayonets. I have had several, including a couple in new, unissued condition. Even on the new ones the detailed logos are chipped or damaged. I think some of the problem is in the hardness of the material used and the ...

Re: Egyptian 6x4

This is one of the different scabbard rubber insulatorsI am aware of. Poland made a few that were 10 mm longer than standard. The scabbards were without stops. Never regular production. A few of the very 1st Russian Type I scabbards also had a different shape and length insulator and scabbards ...
