Forum Downtime

I apologize for the recent downtime.
According to the hosts, the OS was corrupted and they had to do some repairs and restore from a backup a few days ago.
May have lost a post or 2. Hopefully everything is stable now.
Thanks to Mike for the heads-up.

Re: Romanian AKM 6X3 Type I PSL Bayonets & Scabbards

Nice one! Getting them in good condition and matching is getting harder and harder. Gone for now are the days of crates of them to sort through.

Re: Egyptian marked Tula 6x4

Ok all, let's just remember that we are all here with a common purpose, and that is to collect and study these bayonets. Sometimes a bit of arguing gets us more info than we had before. Mike is doing a great job as moderator, and I value his participation. Given the pics that he commented on origina...

Re: Type 65s/84s bayonet

Remember way back in the 90's when we imported Type 56's from China. Ordered a few boxes of bayonets and I think they probably cost us around $12 each back then. Had red and black. Wish I was collecting bayonets back then. I had to hunt them down in later years, buying them from people who had bough...

Re: Type 81 bayonet

I found one by accident here in South Africa. Seller didn't know what it was.
Can't say I was desperate to add one to the collection, they aren't really a military issue item. But I do like having it, it ticks off another box.
Congrats on yours. What is collecting bayonets like in China? Can't be easy.

Yes, he is pointing out that it's an imitation one made for display or made specifically for commercial sale.
We are aware of all the fakes being sold currently. Thanks for the info corgi.

What about the Type 81 bayonets? Are they seen there or are they considered obsolete now?

Re: Russian 6H5 genuine or souvenir?

Narrow crossguard area ones are rare....quite hard to find and command a premium price. I think there is little doubt yours is an original issued one. Congrats, nice find!

Re: Happy new year :)

And to you too Ilian, and the rest of the members. May you find those elusive bayonets this year.
As for me, that would be a 6x9 Ratnik, and a pebble grip 6H4.
Here's to hoping.

Re: Russian AKM 6X3 Type I bayonets and scabbards

Bringing back an old topic. This week I picked up a mismatched Type II Izhevsk bayo in poor condition with a Type 1 Tula scabbard. No doubt swapped at some stage. But bought it for the scabbard, as I didn't have an example of the notched bar and mold number on the rubber. Just posting here for inter...

Whatever it is, it's refreshingly unusual and interesting.
Thanks Mike for all the work you put into research and theories.

Anyone able to purchase from Reibert.info?

Buying from Ukraine and Russia is obviously fairly impossible...although some of you seem to have the right connections.
I see the occasional Ratnik Bayonet for sale there at fair prices. Anyone have any ways of buying from there and getting it out of Ukraine and to a place it can be shipped from?

Current wants list: 6X9-1 and Pebble Grips bayos

These are at the top of my wants list. Would appreciate any leads. Looking for a military Kampo/6x9-1 bayonet and also any of the Type 2's with pebbble grip in any colour. Can't say I have a ton of trades, but would really like to try and add those 2 to my collection. I do have a spare INSAS if this...
