Re: Valmet Bayonets

Very interesting, especially since I own an early latch lock Beretta M38 (the SMG version without the muzzle ring) bayonet.
I suppose the Valmet version is uber scarce?

Re: Mine VZ58´s

They are a great collecting field themselves, and most can be had inexpensively.
Very nice. Keep it up, there are so many variations. Looking good.

I like that field knife version. I assume no slot at the back?
They are not common, well done.

Re: Romanian Type II's available

There are a handful of very good condition, matching Type II Romanians available again. Some double logo and some logo/letter.
Price is $400 each, which is cheap. If anyone wants, message me and I'll send you details.

Re: Romanian Type II variations

Martin,
SA ones will always have an A prefix.
Axxxx
Or actually... A1xxx
7076 would not have come to SA, it must be part of either Romanian or other country issue. When I referred to the one with double logo and I as Romanian contract, I mean it is not part of the SA export/purchase.

Re: Romanian Type II variations

I haven't seen an SA contract one available for over a year. Seems whatever was stolen from special forces has now calmed down or been secured. Only way they would have left there. They do have a lot of the rifles and ammo that they bought late 80's..I guess for foreign weapons training. But only a ...

Romanian Type II variations

I have been asked a few times about any differences between the various Type II's that we come across. As we know, the 2 sources seem to be South African contract ones from about 1988, and then the rest that are assumed to be either Romanian issued, or for export rifles. The ones that are not SA con...

Re: Russian AKM 6X3 Type I bayonets and scabbards

I still dispute that fact about the square butt ones. If you look at the article linked previously: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/10/29/history-evolution-soviet-russian-ak-bayonets/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=2018-10-30&utm_campaign=Weekly+Newsletter he pictures th...

Yeah, I'm guessing he means matching numbered bayos with serials starting with 2 and 8.
Wish I had gotten some Tabuks back when they were affordable myself.

Hi all, As you know, this forum is free and will remain so. Hosting and domain costs are borne by myself in the in the interests of expanding our knowledge of AK bayonets and related. I feel we have a remarkable amount of info gathered here, even though this is a limited and small field of interest....

Re: Russian Green !?

Finally an answer. The fourth version of the 6×4 series of AK bayonets is the rarest one. This bayonet was made by another Soviet arms designing plant – TsNII TochMash. Possibly, this was an experimental bayonet although it was issued in small quantities. It was largely identical to the 6X4 Type 2 w...
