Re: Forum Downtime

Thanks to Brian's maintenance, I was very anxious that I could not get on the website these two days, thinking that I would not be able to see everyone's share again.

Re: Egyptian 6x4

Nice pair of Egyptian AKM 6X4 Type II bayonets in the correct Type I scabbards. From what I can see the fabric wrist straps appear to be different, but correct. Interesting weave? Maybe my eyes are deceiving me, but the rubber scabbard insulator on the left appears longer!? I would be interesting t...

Re: Type 65s/84s bayonet

Remember way back in the 90's when we imported Type 56's from China. Ordered a few boxes of bayonets and I think they probably cost us around $12 each back then. Had red and black. Wish I was collecting bayonets back then. I had to hunt them down in later years, buying them from people who had boug...

Brian wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2024 3:15 pm Nice one! Getting them in good condition and matching is getting harder and harder. Gone for now are the days of crates of them to sort through.
Envy foreign loose policy for bayonets, in China, express bayonets must be careful

Re: Type 81 bayonet

I found one by accident here in South Africa. Seller didn't know what it was. Can't say I was desperate to add one to the collection, they aren't really a military issue item. But I do like having it, it ticks off another box. Congrats on yours. What is collecting bayonets like in China? Can't be ea...

Egyptian 6x4

The most common Egyptian 6×4 after the hands feel a little disappointed, the workmanship is too cheap, there is the traditional Egyptian glue overflow, and the back square back teeth

Re: Romanian AKM 6X3 Type I PSL Bayonets & Scabbards

Very nice PSL bayonet and scabbard! It is basically a Romanian AKM 6X3 Type II version. However the single letter, (H), numbers indicate it was matched and issued with a PSL marksman, (sniper), rifle in 1979. These were made in much smaller quantities than the regular rifles. Yours needs a wrist st...

Re: East German AKM 6X3 Scabbard 6X4

This is a “Transitional” variation. The up-date from AKM 6X3 Type i to AKM 6X4 Type II was done in two steps. First the scabbards then the bayonets. In East Germany the original Type I bayonets were made as the “Modell 59” starting in 1965. The Transitional variation was made in 1979 and known as t...

Re: Type 65s/84s bayonet

Nice clean example. This one has the hand etched number on the cross guard indicating it was paired with a rifle when imported in the USA. I prefer to call these Chinese AKM bayonets. The Type 56 refers to the military issue bayonets. These AKM bayonets were made for the civilian export / import ma...
